An X-Ray Technician (also known as X-Ray Technologist or Radiographer) uses cutting-edge imaging methods to visualize the inside of the human body. The pictures they create help physicians to diagnose and treat illnesses or injuries with great accuracy.
Roles and Responsibilities
Take X-Rays of a specific area of a patient’s body
Work with patients to explain the procedure, position them correctly, and remove any items through which x-rays can not pass
Ensure the surrounding area is covered by lead shields and other such materials for safety purposes
Operate and maintain radiography equipment
Work with a wide variety of imaging technologies, including:
Computerized axial tomography (CT)
Magnetic resonance imaging (MRI)
Fluoroscopy
Mammography
