An OT-Anaesthesia Technician prepares and maintains an operating theatre and its equipment, assists the surgical team during operations and provides support to patients in the recovery room. He/she also assists with the administration and monitoring of anaesthesia and has an extensive knowledge of anaesthesia techniques, instruments, supplies, and technology.
Roles and Responsibilities
Prepare operating room for surgery, connect and check needed devices
Provide technical assistance to surgeons, nurses, anaesthetists in the operating room
Clean and disinfect operating room area, equipment/instruments and anaesthesia equipment after each procedure/surgery
Assist staff in handling and discharging patient as needed
Take care of any specimens obtained for testing following laboratory procedures/protocol
Follow recommended protocol of sterilization, supply procurement, reporting
S/he maintains anaesthesia/OT equipment/instruments and supplies
Keeps records of equipment inspections
